Long Beach Zine Fest (LBZF) is an all-day celebration of self-publishing and independent media, hosted at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, CA. The festival brings together over 100 zine artists, publishers, and distributors for a vibrant marketplace — alongside live music, panels, and hands-on workshops.
As Creative Director, I led the development of the visual identity for the festival, grounding the brand in the spirit of DIY publishing while reflecting the energy of the MOLAA space. The logo was inspired by the form and function of accordion-fold brochures — a nod to the tactile, unfolding experience of zines themselves.
I paired graphic elements reminiscent of cut-and-paste collage with a bold, bright color palette drawn directly from MOLAA’s architecture and interiors. The result was a system that felt handmade yet cohesive, expressive but structured — mirroring the community LBZF brings together each year.
From print to digital, every element of the brand was designed to champion independent voices and celebrate the future of folded storytelling.
